Q : SAFE TRADING

*       Anything you do online does come with some inherent risks, everyday in the media we hear about problems that happen caused by criminal’s and it a constant issue that we all need to be vigilant about.

*       When you bid, buy or swap online please check the item details carefully, make sure you have read the item description carefully, asked questions from the sell/swapper about anything that you are concerned about. Don’t proceed with anything you are not confident about.

*       Make sure the payment methods are what you will be happy to use, check the delivery cost, delivery times and also consider the sellers ratings (note how long the seller has been using the site because they may not have had time to gain any ratings yet).

*       Sometimes images may appear COPIED form a brochure or Catalogue; these images might look too professional, perfect or no background colours/content. The seller should be willing to take actual pictures to prove they are in possession of the item/s.

*       Contact the seller and ask for verifiable contact details, always be wary of things that seem too good to be true, it’s a much used term but “IF IT SEEMS TO BE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT USUALLY IS”!!!!

*       Try and be in control of the payment method, never send cash, don’t use Western Union as payments are unrecoverable.

*       Always push for COD, PayPal or Credit Card, big ticket items can be handled pretty safely by Escrow that is a third party agent who will not release the funds deposited until both parties agree to go ahead. This is great for Cars, Boats, and Motor Cycles etc. Look up https://www.escrow.com for more information on how process works.

Check the postage/delivery and insurance costs and the seller's payments methods.

If you have any questions, contact the seller directly.

Check the description and photo carefully and make sure it looks real and has not been copied from a brochure.

Have a look at the Seller's profile and view their Ratings and any feedback to see what other members have said about them. You can also see how many other items they are selling.

Please see "Safe Trading" in FAQ

Q : BIDDING

Bidding on eSwap is easy, you must be logged in to bid, offer or swap items on eSwap , when you have found and item you like click on the BID Tab, a dropdown box will appear with the item details, the time left  and the Least amount you need to bid. Input the figr5e you want and press Place Bid.

This is very helpful when trying to buy at the least possible price, it’s up to you how for you want to go.

Q : BUY NOW FEATURE

Many items have the Buy now Tab as well as Action so if you want the Item NOW then this is the way to go, simply click the Buy Now Tab and a Drop Down box will appear, because the Buy Now price is displayed you only need to enter the quantity i.e. 1, 2, 3, items etc, the system will direct you to the payment page and you can complete the transaction via the Sellers preferred payment system. (Please read Safe Trading in our FAQ pages if you are unsure of the seller or the process)

Q : PAYING FOR ITEMS

After you have won or purchased the item contact the seller to complete the sale. The seller should send you an invoice with their payment details

There are many ways to pay for items that you purchase but some ways are safer than others.

PayPal is one of the safest and easiest ways to pay the seller; it is our recommended way to pay for you won item. Direct deposit can be dangerous when trying to resolve a dispute as when the money has left your account you have a little or no chance of getting it back if there is a problem with the Seller or the goods.

eSwap.com.au prohibits the use of Western Union money transfer for making payments.

COD and Credit Card via PayPal is a very safe way to trade and for big ticket Items you could try Escrow.com they would hold the funds until they are cleared to release them to the seller.

Don’t forget to let the Seller know you have paid and look out for the payment, also confirm the delivery arrangements if you can.

Q : RATINGS

Ratings are very important in online trading, this is the best way to tell other users who to trust and support or if you have not had a good experience or service from a seller it’s a good way of warning others.

Leave a rating for the seller to provide other members with an indication to how well the seller performed in the sale.

Leave the rating as soon as possible after the transaction.

Q : SWAPPING

eSwap.com.au is the only web site that truly allows online swapping (bartering) because the software has been specifically built to allow real-time negotiation.

When you find an item you want you can make an offer in real-time to the seller, you can even upload your swap item so the real negotiations can take place. The final outcome will be if the original seller/swapper is happy with th swap deal, it could be an Item for Item (straight swap) or swap plus cash difference (that can work either way you swap plus some money or your item may be worth more so you would get his item plus some money) the choices are between both parties.
